Owl City Announces Spring 2010 US Headlining Tour :
 Owl City announces a Spring headlining tour of the US kicking off on March 30th in Boise, ID and hitting every major US market including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Denver, DC and more before ending on May 2nd in Milwaukee. The tour will come on the heels of a headlining tour of Europe and the UK as well as a tour of Australia where they'll be joining up with Cobra Starship. In addition, the Spring headlining tour will be Owl City's second Stateside headlining tour in 2010 as the band is heading out on a sold out Winter tour in January.
As the band gears up for a busy 2010, Owl City can reflect on what has been an unbelievably successful 2009. Ocean Eyes was recently certified gold in the US and the first single Fireflies has sold more than 2 million copies making it double platinum. Fireflies also hit the #1 position on Billboard's Hot 100 chart twice and went #1 on iTunes in the US, Canada, Denmark, Holland and New Zealand. In addition, the video for Fireflies found fans at MTV, FUSE and VH1 where it is currently the #1 Most Played video on the channel and the band established themselves as a viable live act thanks to sold out headlining tours of the US, China and Japan making this small town artist an international phenomenon.
 Additionally, Owl City earned numerous accolades from the media over the past six months. He was featured in Rolling Stone who said Ocean Eyes is filled with appealing dreamy electro-pop, USA Today who wrote Young belongs to a grand pop-music tradition the bedroom musical savant, and Entertainment Weekly who said Young's album Ocean Eyes contains quite a few catchy tunes, so we're betting radio programmers won't be leaving Owl City soon and post Owl City's NYC show in September Rob Harvilla at the Village Voice wrote Owl Citygets a more intense reaction from a Bowery Ballroom crowd than even Nine Inch Nails didtoo infectious to resist. He's also graced the covers of HITS and Pollstar and was featured in the New York Times, NME, and Billboard who have been incredible supportive since the beginning.

Owl City tour to tackle another round of concert dates for 2010 :
After a banner year filled with hit singles and sold-out shows, overnight success story Owl City has confirmed fresh dates for a spring 2010 headlining tour.
Led by Adam Young, the one-man band will fill out its ranks with touring musicians for its latest run of dates. The spring tour is booked from March 30 at the Knitting Factory in Boise, ID, through May 2 at Eagle Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI.
Other stops along the way are inked for April 3 at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR; April 9 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA; April 19 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, TN; April 24 at Terminal 5 in New York, NY; and April 30 at Riviera Theatre in Chicago, IL.
 Presales for the spring tour began today, December 18, with details on how to access the presale available through Owl City's official MySpace page. The first public onsales will follow on January 8. Lights and Paper Routes will provide support throughout the tour.
"I just wanted to say thank you so very much for your support throughout 2009. It's been a whirlwind of a year, and I can't imagine having done it without you," Young said in a video announcing his new tour plans. "It was incredible to play for so many people across the globe this year, and I couldn't be more excited for 2010. So off we go!"
The spring tour will closely follow Owl City's winter 2010 tour, which also include support from Lights, as well as Deas Vail. The largely sold-out trek begins January 21 at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, MO, and wraps February 10 at Revolution Music Room in Little Rock, AR.
Several shows on the calendar have changed venues due to demand since the tour was first reported on TicketNews. A January 27 concert moved to Madison Theatre in Covington, KY; a January 28 show upgraded to Lifestyle Communities Pavilion in Columbus, OH; a January 29 event switched to Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD; and a February 3 concert transferred to The Ritz Ybor in Tampa, FL.
Owl City was also on tour this past fall for a round of October concert dates. Most of those performances also sold out as Young his compadres rode high on the success of the single "Fireflies," off the 2009 album "Ocean Eyes."

Owl City plots spring US tour for 2010 :
Synthpop act Owl City will push their 2010 road trip into the spring as the band--led by musical prodigy Adam Young--continues to support this summer's "Ocean Eyes."
 Young and company return to the North American tour circuit Jan. 21 in Kansas City, MO, with winter dates running though early February. The newly announced spring outing kicks off March 30 in Boise, ID, and will travel to 24 cities. Details are included at right.
The road trip supports "Ocean Eyes," Young's sophomore effort, which surfaced in July. The new record follows his full-length debut, last year's "Maybe I'm Dreaming." The set peaked at No. 27 on The Billboard 200, with the single "Fireflies," hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and selling more than two million copies in the US, according to a press release.
Several tracks from the new album are currently streaming at Young's MySpace page.
Earlier this month the group was shortlisted as one of 15 acts included on the BBC's Sound of 2010, which highlights "rising music stars," according to the British media agency.

One-man song churner Owl City is bringing his basement-made music to North American cities this spring. The March to May tour, in promotion of Owl City’s certified gold Ocean Eyes—and the immensely popular tween-pop tune “Fireflies”—will start in Boise, ID, and cap off in Milwaukee.
 Adam Young, the owl himself who signed to Universal Republic this past year, has already been busy on tour, gearing up for his sold-out winter tour in January, which will hit the US, UK, and Europe. He’ll then meet up with Cobra Starship for some dates in Australia, right before his first spring show date in Boise. Geez. This is where Young’s reported insomnia will benefit or kill him. ... It seems as if at the beginning of this year there weren’t many people on the Owl City bandwagon. According to the numbers, there are plenty of people aboard for 2010. Owl City’s latest album, Ocean Eyes, was recently certified gold and the “Fireflies” single has sold more than 2,000,000 copies making its status double platinum. For a guy as young as Adam Young (no pun intended), he’s been making all the right moves in his career.

Owl City Biography and Info :
Who: Owl City, the solo electro-pop project of Minnesotan daydreamer Adam Young began three years ago, when he began recording warm, shimmering tunes in his parents’ basement in off-hours from his job at a soda warehouse. His songs quickly became a MySpace phenomenon and his devoted online following helped Owl City score a deal with Universal Republic Records, who released Young’s major label debut, Ocean Eyes.
Sounds Like: Owl City’s sound is often compared to the Postal Service thanks to his combination of hushed, lovelorn vocals and chirping synthesizers (and Young’s uncanny vocal similarity to Ben Gibbard). But for Young, Owl City owes its sound to a combination of extremes, describing his music as a mix of the pure pop of Taylor Swift and the lush ambient techno of the German electronic label Kompakt. According to Young, “There’s something about that kind of electronic music or that kind of pop that allows me to mix melody and melancholy.”
 Vital Stats:
• As with lots of escapist art, Owl City’s music was dreamed up in the most mundane of settings. “About two years ago I was working at a Coca-Cola warehouse all day,” Young says, adding that he worked with nice people, but the tedium of loading trucks led his mind to wander. “It allowed me to sort of dream up these projects. One wound up being Owl City. I thought through how I wanted it to sound, how I wanted the records to look, everything. Sometimes working in a monotonous environment can really free up your imagination.”
• While Ocean Eyes is rife with aquatic imagery and a sense of adventure, it was recorded in the total seclusion of a windowless basement. For Young, the two are related. “A lot of it has to do with me being by myself while creating it; no producers, no engineers. And that approach allows me to think more freely, I think.” While recording alone in a basement might not sound like the most inspirational of settings, Young used simple decorations to inspire his creativity. “I have a lot of landscape paintings to look at; lots of ethereal, dreamy nature photography. Having that stuff around really creeps in subconsciously to impact the music.”
• While Young owes Owl City’s early success largely to MySpace, he never thought of it as an Internet-only project. Despite the fact that individual songs like “Hello Seattle” have racked up over 6 million plays, for Young, it was one part of a whole. “I never wanted to let the platform limit me. I was always thinking about songs coming together as an album, and eventually having actual physical distribution, rather than just MP3s online. I think the connection you can make with people over the internet is pretty unique and spectacular, but I also think it’s a means to an end; you still want people to be able to hold your music, and you want them to be able to see you play.”
